2020 Pooley Pinot Noir

Region: Coal River Valley, Tasmania

Viticulture: Conventional

Winemaker: Anna Pooley

Established Date: 1985

Beautifully ripe Pinot Noir was destemmed predominantly with the inclusion of 15% whole bunches. Spending 11 months in 15% new French oak barriques (225 litres) & puncheons (500 litres) and Seasoned oak used between 2-7 years of age.

Perfumed notes of dark cherry, kirsch, forest fruits, and confected strawberry on the nose. On the palate, red fruits carry through with further notes of subtle dried herbs, cinnamon, aniseed and cedar spice. Soft tannins, supple fruits and freshness are all tell-tale signs of a long future ahead.

Sommelier’s Recommendation…. Stunning Pinot Noir from Tassie. Pinot Noir is best grown in a cool climate and it doesn’t get much cooler than Tassie. Grown in the best vineyards, the fruit ripens beautifully with black fruit up front and crushed herbs and spices to round it all out.
