Grasshopper Rock Pinot Noir

$44.00

Region: Central Otago NZ

Viticulture: Conventional

Winemaker: Pip Battley

Established Date: 2003

This is a classic Grasshopper Rock Pinot Noir with the volume turned up. It’s richer, fleshier and more approachable than usual but has the distinctive cherry, violet, herb and mineral Grasshopper Rock signature. This Pinot displays a floral charm, a complex bouquet with a core of fruit and incredible texture. Youthful and deliscious with all the hallmarks of great Central Otago Pinot Noir.

Sommelier’s Recommendation

This Pinot Noir sits up with the best from Central Otago. It has fantastic complexity of cherry, floral and mineral. It would work wonders with a lamb pappardelle with a napolitana base.

Planted in 2003, Grasshopper Rock is one of the world’s southernmost vineyards, dedicated exclusively to Pinot Noir. The vineyard is across the Clutha River from Alexandra. The site enjoys high sunshine hours and very cool nighttime temperatures. With extremes of heat and cold comes the risk of spring and autumn frost, providing a demanding but rewarding environment for the production of premium Pinot Noir.
