The Etna rosso is made from the two noble red grapes of the appellation Nerello Mascalese 95% Nerello Cappuccio 5% both planted at an altitude of 650 meters above the sea level on the Northern slopes of the Etna volcano. Temperature controlled fermented in stainless steel vats, followed by a maturation in French oak barrel for 18 months before being bottled.

Sommelier’s Recommendation The Etna Rosso is a beautiful wine that manages to effectively communicate both the elegance and the power of this stellar appellation in Sicily. The nose profile shows ripe red fruit such as cherries, strawberries and plum, baked spices and a define note of graphite, on the palate has vibrant acidity balanced by a high concentration of soft tannins. I like to describe this wine like getting kicked in the face from a ballerina.

The estate Tenuta delle Terre Nere is owned by the widely acclaimed Marco de Grazia. Marco is recognized as one of a small group of winemakers on Etna who have been responsible for elevating Etna wines to a high international level. His vineyards are located on the northern slopes of Etna, universally regarded as the best place to grow grapes for Etna wines thanks to the volcanic soil created by incalculable numbers of lava flows following upon each other in the volcano’s venerable age. This property consists of 38 hectares of vineyards between 50 to 100 years old vines with one parcel, having survived phylloxera, has reached the honorable age of 140 years old.
