Region: Piedmont, Italy
Viticulture: Sustainable
Winemaker Andrea & Fabio Oberto
Established: 1959
100% Barbera from 6.3 ha in La Morra. Vineyards are southwest facing with clay-limestone soils. Ripe clusters are hand-picked with careful quality-selection. Fruit is destemmed and crushed within a few hours from the harvest. The must is fermented with frequent yet careful pump overs followed by a medium-lengthy maceration on the skins for 180 hours. The wine then goes to steel tanks where it undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation. 60% of the wine ages in stainless steel tank for 8 months and 40% in new oak barrels for 6 months.
Sommelier’s Recommendation This is everything you want and expect from quality Piedmont Barbera! Smells & tastes of red & dark berries, white pepper, & dried herbs. Elegant and powerful at the same time with vibrant acidity and soft tannins. This wine is ready to be enjoyed now and suitable for long cellar aging.
