Named after the co-founder Margaret Pooley, this elegant Chardonnay is matured in a mixture of barriques and puncheons for 7 months on lees. No new oak but predominantly 1 and 2nd year fills. Sun-kissed summer fruits on the nose with white peach, yellow nectarine, and nashi pear followed by a contrasting palate of winter citrus, golden apple and grapefruit pith on the palate. Plenty of generosity and depth of character with a lean acid profile and seamlessly integrated oak.

Sommeliers Recommendation

Australia’s best white grape is in a period of renewed love thanks to our cool climate regions and  a winemakers restrained touch  to let the ripe, cool chardonnay to shine. Peaches, and nectarines carry the frame of vanilla and brioche in perfect balance.

Pooley is one of the leading family-owned wineries in Tasmania, known for their Single Vineyard varietals of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. The vineyard was first planted in 1985 by Margaret & Dennis Pooley. It is now run by third generation Pooleys, with winemaker Anna Pooley at the helm of the cellar and her brother Matt as viticulturalist. These two are unstoppable, having been awarded numerous trophies and medals at wine shows.
