2019 Rockford Semillon

$39.00

Region: Barossa Valley, South Australia

Viticulture: Organic

Winemaker: Ben Radford

Established Date: 1984

This wine faithfully reflects the contribution made by the Sibley and Kalleske families to Rockford and the Barossa. Their knowledge, tenacity and commitment to the land ensure Semillon – a pioneer Barossa variety – has a viable future. Because the fruit is hand-picked, we can select bunches at different stages of ripeness. The early-picked fruit adds acidity while the later-season fruit contributes riper, fruitier components. The wine matured in barrel and the combination of different sized oak casks, when finally blended, come together to make a complex, textured, and mouth-filling wine.

Sommelier’s Recommendation (3-5 lines)

Not your average Semillon. Definitely tricks you in a blind tasting! A portion of the Local Growers Semillon is barrel fermented and oak aged whilst the rest goes into stainless. Dry, lean wine with notes of orange and lime with some honey developing. Nice texture on the palace with a pretty long finish.

Rockford Wines is a true cult winery located in the Barossa Valley, established in 1984 it adheres to true artisan technique, hand-producing all wines from vineyard to cellar door. Wines are benchmark for the region and are made with minimal intervention and very traditional technique. The wines are uniquely styled and some of Australia’s most sought after.
