Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark red hue. Spicy red currant and red cherry aromas merge with toasty cedar, tobacco and earthy dried herb notes. Well weighted the palate has an even spread of ripe red currant and cherry fruits over a background of earth, toasty cedar and dried herbs. Spicy finish with slightly chalky tannins and bright acidity.

Sommeliers Recommendation:

The high acidity allows Sangiovese to match well with all manners of food. It’s one of the few wines that will not get lost when paired with rich, tomato based sauces and this wine absolutely sings  with  with pizza margherita! The “riserva” means the wine has spent and extra 6 months in oak and beacuse of this, it will be your friendly allay with chargrilled meat and robust sides. Buon Apetito!

Founded in 1971 by about 30 producers located in Tuscany between the provinces of Siena and Arezzo the Cantina Viticoltori Senesi Aretini nowadays has 235 members, owning over 350 hectares of vineyards. Thanks to the collaboration with Maurizio Castelli (one of most famous Italian winemakers) and the continuing presence and cooperation with Mery Ferrara, the wine culture integrates innovation with tradition. The vines grown, then as now, were those typical of the area: the red grapes of Sangiovese and Canaiolo and the white grapes of Trebbiano and Malvasia. Since the 2007 vintage, the Council of directors, benefiting also from the grapes varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay.
