2018 Ten Minutes by Tractor ‘Wallis’ Pinot Noir

Region: Mornington Peninsula , VIC

Viticulture: Sustainable

Winemaker: Imogen Dillon, Martin Spedding

Established Date: 2000

Following Burgundian principles, this wine is crafted with 10% whole bunches of Pinot noir which are fermented and left to macerate for 30 days on skins in concrete vats. Once the wine is pressed, the wine was transferred to 25% new 228 litre French oak barrels for 11 months for  natural malolactic fermentation before bottling unfined and with minimal filteration.

Sommelier’s Recommendation

Awesome big style of pinot noir showing what they can do down in Mornington. Lots of intense red fruit on the noise, well integrated notes of oak on the palate and fine tannins. Opens up with time in the glass leading to some herbaceous notes.

The original winery started in 1997 with three family owned vineyards in Main Ridge, all ten minutes by tractor apart. In 2003, Martin Spedding bought Ten Minutes by Tractor Wine Co. from the three families and since then we have opened a new cellar door, restaurant and added four new vineyards.

All our vineyards have their own unique character with different aspects, slopes, soils, altitude and cool ocean breezes which flow through the valleys from Bass Strait, Western Port and Port Phillip. As described by Martin Spedding “Put simply, our future is clear – grow the best fruit we can, make wines that express the character of their origin and continue to put them in front of people who appreciate the difference.”
