NV House of Arras ‘Blanc de Blancs’ Sparkling

Region: Tasmania

Viticulture: Conventional

Winemaker: Ed Carr.

Established Date: 1995

This wine sees careful parcel selection of premium cool climate Chardonnay from vineyards in Piper’s River, the Derwent Valley, East Coast and Coal River Valleys. A significant portion spends time on oak before this wine undergoes secondary ferment in bottles and spends 30 months on lees giving remarkle balance and poise for a multi vintage sparkling wine.

Sommelier’s Recommendation: First time I’ve heard of ‘Arras’ was in a conversation with a patron in the restaurant, over what he should go for a champagne or a sparkling. Great wine to start your meal or throughout. Elegant and medium body, delicate with fine bubbles. Aromas of citrus, grapefruit and sourdough. Pair great with  raw seafood entrees, seafood risotto and creamy cheese.

For more than a decade, the House of Arras team has been identifying and developing the ideal vineyard sites for world class sparkling wine. This journey has led the House of Arras to call the ancient soils and cold climate of Tasmania home. Its climate is significantly cooler than the mainland, with long summer daylight and maritime influences, which are Ideal conditions for long, slow and consistent fruit development. The philosophy for Arras sparkling wines is simple, to create world class sparkling wines.
